Fab Fireworks

Great display and great crowd. John, my miller got me turning and I do have to say, I think I looked rather stunning and complemented the fireworks beautifully.  Of course I had a great view, being so tall, although I had a close shave when I was nearly hit by a neighbours firework!! Bring on next year.
I'm gonna have some medical attention next year, as I have a few ageing shutters on my sails and I need a new coat of tar on my bricks and paint on my cap.  I wish I could get it on the NHS, but unfortunately I need to go private.  I was told it's gonna cost over £20,000....this is why I have friends to help raise money. On that matter the next Table Top Sale is on Sat 12th November at St Giles' Hall, Scartho.

Another Brass Band Success

Just a quick update from me, Waltham Windmill. We had a brass band on at the end of July beautiful music and a great atmosphere; what a splendid way to spend an afternoon. I really enjoyed it. There have also been a few car boot sales on lately with lots of nice people coming down and selling their old things. Also just a quick reminder that I am now open every day except Monday throughout the summer holidays and the lovely staff and volunteers that are on my ground floor will be able to help you. Next car boot; Sunday 21st August.

A new Friend for me! Sarah, my apprentice.

Hey everybody!  Sorry it has been a while since I have posted to you, but I have been very busy with my heritage worker in finding an apprentice. We have finally found one and Sarah is great. Her and Paul are going to be working hard so that I can be an amazing attraction for all ages. Sarah is going to learn all about me and how I work. This will not just help me to have more visitors and more events, but will also help Sarah in a career that could take her to the top of my cap. She will do everything she can to help me and she will have all the help she needs with Paul and the Grimsby Institute.  If you have any suggestions to make me and my area a better place, just place a comment or follow us on Twitter and Facebook.  Why not come along and see me and the attractions around me? I hope to see you soon.

Discover Lincolnshire 'FREE' weekend 5th/6th March

Wow! It's been some time since I've had that many people through me.  Thank you to everyone who came to visit me.  It's been a cold winter and I certainly appreciated the spruce up and the many feet that ascended my stairs. We had over 240 people over the weekend and what lovely people they were. So many good comments and the sun even managed to shine on Sunday!  A big thanks to John my miller and Stewart my worker who were with me even during the mizzly cold weather.

Front Page Celeb!

Did you see me on the front page of the Grimsby Telegraph? It wasn't my best angle, but you could see my Great Spur Wheel, Shoe and Stone Vat...and yes my heritage worker.  A pretty good article, I wish they'd asked me though...I could tell them some stories.  On that subject though, another friend of mine, Emma Lingard, from GIFH, is collecting stories all about me.  More Fame!!  She was out and about yesterday around Waltham.  If you know anyone with stories about me (Waltham Windmill), please contact my  heritage man (Paul) on 01472 859775, or txt him on 07401847127 or tweet him @walthamwindmill or on Facebook.

The Wordy Windmill sees bright lights

Today is the day for the first blog of my 130 yr life!!!
Postman Pat would have called today 'a wet letter day' - blustery and damp. I've had a few visitors today from the press.  A lovely pair from the Grimsby Telegraph and a trilogy from Grimsby Institute.  They took pictures of my insides and my handsome heritage worker, Paul. Flashing all over the place, they were.  Well, a busy day...must rest now..too much excitement's not good for something my age.
